Sport photography is a demanding activity. However, the real confession is taking a photo that goes beyond the photos known from the covers of sports diaries. See such photos taken by the winners of the 6th edition of the Polish Sports Photography Competition.

I found out that sport photography is not an easy piece of bread by testing the Sony FE 400 mm f / 2.8 GM OSS lens on ski jumping. However, it is also undoubtedly a profession with which you can earn. A sports photographer must record situations that happen in a split second. For the second time in Chorzów, and for the sixth time in history, prizes were awarded for the best sports photos of the last season. On 4 October, professional photojournalists and sports photography enthusiasts met in the Silesian "Sztygarka" Good Taste and Climate Complex. – The number of applications has once again exceeded our expectations – says Łukasz Laskowski, owner of Press Focus Agency and organizer of the competition. – This year the jury had to watch over 2,800 photos , the level of which was really very high – he adds. The works of the jury were chaired by Jerzy Kleszcz, a longtime photojournalist of Przegląd Sportowy – We are pleased that Jurek agreed to direct the works of the jury again – says Marcin Kądziołka, the owner of the Press Photo Center Agency and the organizer of the competition. – The discussion on the verdict was very long and substantive. Details decided about some of the choices – he emphasizes. The members of the jury were: Tomasz Markowski, Andrzej Grygiel, Grzegorz Celejewski, Arkadiusz Ławrywianiec, Tomasz Jastrzębowski and Matthew Burton.

– We had a lot of good photos from which we could choose the winners, and this is very important, it gives comfort for the juror – reports the jury Jerzy Kleszcz – The level of work generally goes up, and I am particularly pleased that amateur photography is practically not is different from what professional photographers have prepared. Among amateur photographers, Sylwia Biernacka won two awards – her photojournalism won the 2nd place, and a single photo taken during the competition in batu jumping took 3rd place on the podium. The Grand Prix of the amateur photographers competition was awarded to Radosław September for a photo taken in Łódź during the Polish synchronized swimming championships.

Two special prizes were awarded in the professionals category. The award of the City of Chorzów for the photo taken during the Tour de Pologne went to Marzena Bugała-Azarko from Dziennik Zachodni. However, a unique photograph of Pavel Steinbors, goalkeeper of the Arka Gdynia team, by Marcin Gadomski from Super Express received the Ekstraklasa special prize. Marcin returned to the Tri-City with a watch from Aztorin, a football partner of Ekstraklasa. Mirosław Pieślak, the winner of one of the previous editions of the competition, also appeared on the stage. This time, he received first place for his photojournalism from children and youth chess competitions. Traditionally, the culminating moment of the gala was the presentation of the Grand Prix for a photo of the year. After long deliberations, the jury chose a photo presenting the fall of cyclists during the World Track Cycling Championships in Pruszków . Its author – Szymon Sikora from the Olympic Magazine – received a check worth PLN 2,000.
