RF 85mm F1.2L USM is a lens that is characterized by high brightness and high optics. The new glass is designed for the mirrorless bezelrors of the Canon with a full frame.
RF 85mm F1.2L USM is the second Canon lens next to EF 35mm f / 1.4L II USM, which uses the unique Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics technology, reducing the occurrence of chromatic aberration, thus improving resolution and sharpness. In addition, the lens is equipped with aspherical and UD lenses.
Clear glass and high-quality optics
The RF 85mm F1.2L USM is one of Canon's brightest lenses equipped with an automatic AF system for full-frame mirrorless cameras. In combination with a short tube and the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system, a very low aperture (F1.2) achieves a stunningly shallow depth of field with a bokeh effect, allowing a smooth "cut" of the subject to the background. The large aperture allows up to 50 percent more light on the sensor than a f / 1.4 lens, which makes the RF 85mm F1.2L USM in combination with full-frame Canon mirrorless cameras great for low light conditions – EOS R allows automatic focusing even at -6EV, and EOS RP – at -5EV. Using the same ultrasonic motor (USM) as the 50mm F1.2L USM RF lens, the new RF 85mm F1.2L USM design ensures smooth and quiet AF operation, also when tracking objects. In combination with a high-performance microprocessor and support software, the RF lens mount allows you to transfer even more data to the camera, accelerating the work and improving the efficiency of the entire EOS R system.
New technical solutions
The RF lenses are equipped with a special control ring that allows setting basic parameters such as time, aperture, ISO and exposure correction. The possibility of additional personalization of settings is another functionality that is ideal for wedding or portrait photography. The lens is also equipped with a manual focus ring, allowing you to focus on the subject without having to manually switch to the MF mode. The characteristic designation of the "L" series on the lens means that it is – thanks to special seals – adapted to work in difficult weather conditions.
