Tokina Opera 16-28 mm f / 2.8 will debut on the market soon. This universal wide angle is to be characterized by the highest quality optics intended for full frame sensors.
Tokina Opera 16-28mm F / 2.8 is one of the lenses of the "Opera" series, which is to be a competition for the "Art" Sigma series. This type of glass can be considered a premium. They are characterized by an exceptionally good quality of optics and are dedicated to full-frame dies and professional applications. Price goes, of course, with quality.
A wide angle with great optics
Tokina Opera 16-28mm F / 2.8 is characterized by interesting parameters. We get a very wide angle – at 16 mm we can curl the edges of objects, so glass works well with architectural photography. On the other hand, we can increase the focal length to 28 mm, getting a slightly closer frame, but still wide. Most importantly, focal length changes do not change the aperture value, because this is constant and amounts to f / 2.8. Tokina is therefore a very bright wide angle – well suited for interiors, for example in churches, where we often have very little light. The optical construction of the lens consists of 15 elements in 13 groups . Three aspherical type lenses were used, as well as elements made of SD low dispersion glass, which allows effective suppression of chromatic and spherical aberrations. The producer ensures that the advanced optics will ensure sharpness on the entire surface of the frame also on the "wide hole".
A few interesting solutions
The direction of rotation of the focus ring is in the direction of rotation of the Nikon and Canon lenses. The lens also uses a newly developed AF drive that allows the focus to be set faster and quieter than previous generations. This DC motor, combined with the new GMR GM sensor, allows you to improve the speed and accuracy of the AF system. The lens also has the one-touch focus characteristic of the Tokina brand, which allows the photographer to conveniently switch between AF and MF modes, simply by pulling the focus ring back and forth. The aperture is equipped with 9 blades, and the minimum focusing distance is 28 centimeters. Advanced optics carry a lot of weight – the glass weighs almost 950 grams.
Tokina Opera 16-28 mm f / 2.8
TOKINA OPERA 16-28 mm F / 2.8 in stores will be available in the coming weeks. Initially, it will be available for full-frame Canon and Nikon cameras. We will pay 700 dollars for the lens, which is quite a reasonable price . It is worth mentioning that this model was awarded in the TIPA 2019 prizes.
