Sony FE 135 mm f / 1.8 G Master is a new full-frame Sony lens. It belongs to the G Master series, characterized by high quality optics, as well as price. Glass promises to be really good.
Sony completes its portfolio of full-frame lenses with another very interesting glass. Sony FE 135 mm f / 1.8 G Master is a full-frame lens that is ideal for portrait photography. Thus, for example wedding photographers can reach for it. The lens gives 135 mm focal length, which of course can be extended by using the crop mode in the camera. High brightness goes along with the focal length – f / 1.8. Effect? Of course, a great bokeh, which will give portraits a beautiful appearance.
Optically, it's really good
The manufacturer focused on high quality optics, because the lens is to work well with large, high resolution matrixes. The lens consists of 13 elements, which are placed in 10 groups. the front group uses XA (extreme aspherical) lenses and Super ED glass lenses (with very little dispersion), effectively compensating for any aberrations typical of telephoto lenses. Properly placed Super ED and ED lenses are supposed to combat the phenomenon of chromatic aberration, while the Sony Nano AR coating counteracts the phenomenon of flares and the formation of so-called ghosts that can occur in portraits taken against the light. In short, the design ensures uncompromised quality of photos taken with the f / 1.8 aperture, and the lens will not be afraid of the sun's rays reaching the optics. This will allow you to get photos without any defects, which is particularly important in the case of portraits.
Good lens for filming
Sony also did not forget about the filmmakers, for whom the lens with such parameters will also be very attractive. Thinking about them, the glass has been equipped with 4 Sony XD linear motors and "gliding" lenses. As a result, AF works, despite advanced optics, is supposed to be quiet, but also very fast. The filmmakers are also dedicated to switching the aperture into a stepless mode . The fluid aperture is a characteristic feature of film lenses. The lens has an 11-leaf diaphragm, which in combination with a long focal length and high brightness guarantees a really nice visual image. There are two focus lock buttons on the body that we can personalize. In turn, the Linear Response MF function is to ensure that the rotation of the focus ring by a given distance always results in the same shift of the focus plane. The lens itself weighs 960 grams, and the magnesium casing has been sealed against dust and moisture.
Price and availability
The Sony FE 135 mm f / 1.8 G Master will go on sale in April this year. Its price, of course, will not be among the lowest. The glass will cost about 2 thousand. euro . Therefore, on the Polish market, we can expect that we will pay about 10,000 for them. Golden.
