Canon presents refreshed telezoom lenses from the iconic L series. The new products are EF 70-200 mm f / 4L IS II USM and EF 70-200 mm f / 2.8L IS III USM models.
Canon made a gift for fans of popular L's and refreshed two zooms: EF 70-200 mm f / 4L IS II USM and EF 70-200 mm f / 2.8L IS III USM . They are relatively versatile glasses, so they can be used in portrait, nature and sports photography.
We are proud to introduce our new lenses for sale, especially that we were based on the opinions of the users themselves during their design. From the very beginning, when designing new optical solutions, we put the needs of our clients in the foreground, hoping to provide them with confidence and flexibility in telling stories through photography. The new models EF 70-200mm f / 4L IS II USM and EF 70-200mm f / 2.8L IS III USM join the iconic L series, which means that their design is on the one hand versatile and efficient in terms of optics, on the other – durable and compact. – said Michael Burnhill, European Product Specialist at the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon Europe
Canon EF 70-200 mm f / 4L IS II USM
As the manufacturer emphasizes, the EF 70-200mm f / 4L IS II USM is structurally based on the technology of its predecessor, which in the opinion of many users is characterized by exceptional durability and ergonomic design, characteristic for many Canon's L series optical designs. The new lens weighs 780 g . The fluorite coating reduces the ingress of dirt and moisture to structural elements, and the optimized Super Spectra coatings eliminate ghost effects and flare. In addition, fluorite elements eliminate chromatic aberrations, ensuring high resolution and contrast of images.Fixed aperture provides constant light, and 9-leaf aperture creates a distinctive, pleasant bokeh effect with beautiful background blur to accentuate the subject. The new model also uses the latest image stabilization module , which is based on the design of the EF 100-400 mm f / 4.5-5.6L IS II USM model. Thanks to this the lens allows to extend the exposure time by 5 degrees, which is a result 2 degrees better than the predecessor. The EF 70-200 mm f / 4L IS II USM uses a ring US ring drive in conjunction with the third generation EF engine, which is equipped with the latest version of a high performance processor, which provides even faster speed and accuracy of the autofocus . The minimum lens sharpening distance is 1m, while the predecessor was 30cm more, and the almost silent AF motor is equipped with continuous manual focus function without the need to disable the autofocus system.
Canon EF 70-200 mm f / 2.8L IS III USM
EF 70-200 mm f / 2.8L IS III USM is the successor of the flagship model 70-200 mm. The equipment was designed for the most demanding professional photographers, so it is not surprising that fluorite-covered elements (front and rear of the structure) are not only easy to clean but also resistant to moisture and dust.An 8-leaf aperture with a maximum f / 2.8 opening will be useful when you want to obtain sharp objects against a smooth, blurred background. Thanks to elements made of fluorite and UD glass, we get high contrast and excellent image quality. Also pictures in low light conditions are not a problem for EF 70-200 mm f / 2.8L IS III USM – thanks to the maximum f / 2.8 aperture, the lens gets almost twice as much light compared to the f / 4 light constructions. Noteworthy is also 3.5-degree image stabilization , and the USM ring motor provides fast and almost silent autofocus, which manual adjustment can be performed at any time by means of the focus ring. Judging by the manufacturer's description, one can come to the conclusion that the new Canon EF 70-200 mm f / 2.8L IS III USM is essentially the same product , as its predecessor . And it really is. The first reviews available on the web show that the list of new products boils down to the addition of the ASC (Air Sphere Coating) coating as a supplement to the Super Spectra Coating and the addition of the previously mentioned fluorite covered elements. The rest is cosmetics, but of course we will check it carefully, just how the equipment will go into our hands. The Polish branch of Canon did not reveal the prices of new lenses.
