Filming in 6K resolution
Thanks to the newly developed, cinematic, full-frame CMOS sensor with dimensions of 38.1 x 20.1 mm, we can record image in resolution up to 5.9K. EOS C700 FF supports multiform video recording and is compatible with EF and PL mount lenses and anamorphic lenses. When using EF lenses, the EOS C700 FF allows you to use the Dual Pixel CMOS AF autofocus system. The new matrix has the ability to work in low light due to low noise at high ISO. In addition, it has a 15-point scale of the tonal range, guaranteeing a picture with well exposed dark and light parts of the image. The matrix gives the possibility of recording images in various formats – from Super 35 mm to Super 16 mm – and enables image recording, among others in ProRes, XF-AVC formats (recording on CFast cards) or uncompressed Canon Cinema RAW format. Using the dedicated CODEX CDX-36150 codec, the new camera allows you to record a 5.9K RAW 12/10-bit quality image with the ability to record RAW in 4K and 2K 12-bit quality and 4K ProRes. For high-speed image recording, the EOS C700 FF allows you to record images at up to 60 fps (5.9K) , up to 72 fps (4K with crop), and up to 168 fps (2K from Crop). In addition, using oversampling of the 5.9K image, we can get higher quality 4K and 2K images with reduced noise and moiré effects.
Film lenses of the EF and PL system
The EOS C700 FF is available with two EF and PL mount systems and is compatible with the wide portfolio of Canon EF lenses and film lenses. The appropriate height of the matrix (20.1 mm) allows you to additionally mount anamorphic lenses. The manufacturer's system lenses work with the original autofocus system, ensuring fast automatic sharpening. The possibilities of the camera are really big, and especially the large number of film resolutions, also available with a high frame rate. The new camera will meet the requirements of even the most demanding users. It is difficult to combine it with the competition in the form of film cameras. Both Sony A7S II and Panasonic GH5S , despite their capabilities, however, pale. The most important question now is: how much will we pay for the new camera? We do not know that yet.
