Rumors say that Fujifilm X-H1 will soon be on the market. Unlike other producer's models, it will not be a camera intended mainly for photographers, because it will have good film capabilities.
As we know, two brands currently dominate the camera market: Panasonic and Sony. Some still have a fondness for Canon, but this producer is far behind in terms of film capabilities, if we combine it with the mirrorless produced by these two competitors. In turn, Fujifilm has not been associated with the possibility of film application so far, but now it can change.
All thanks to the new Fujifilm X-H1 model, about which, for now, the unofficial specification is written by fujirumors.com . It turns out that the new camera will be the first in the manufacturer's offer, which can boast of really film possibilities. The new model will offer, among others, the possibility of filming in 4K, which is not new, but the bitrate of films will be up to 200 Mbps . In 4K mode we will record video at 25/30 frames per second, while in Full HD we will get slow-motion mode of 120 fps. For Full HD movies, recording time is limited to 30 minutes, while for 4K it is 15 minutes. However, using the external grip, we will also be able to film in 4K for 30 minutes without interruption.
Profile F-Log and better AF
The novelty is also to be a significantly improved autofocus system based on phase detection . It has to deal much better in the case of continuous mode, which is important in the case of filming. Enhanced autofocus is to offer effects comparable to those known from Sony A6500 or Panasonic GH5. Phase detection will also be available in 4K mode. The built-in microphone has also been improved, which is supposed to provide much better sound quality than in the existing models, although it will be more important if the camera has an input for an external microphone. An important ifnormation from the filmmakers' point of view is, of course, that we get special film profiles, including the F-Log logarithmic profile . There will also be modes simulating old photographic films, including the new ETERNA Film Simulation. These modes will often give you a nice, cinematic picture without the need for later color correction or the application of FEATURES. The camera will also have two SD card slots, so we can continue recording when the space on one of the cards runs out.
Price and availability
The whole is completed by the presence of 5-axis matrix stabilization , and the APS-C X-Trans CMOS III matrix itself with the possibility of extending the ISO to 51 200 is to ensure good image quality at higher sensitivities. The screen will be equipped with a touch and WiFi and Bluetooth will be responsible for wireless connection. This is of course an unapproved specification, but given the standard, we can be very sure that this is how the camera will look like. The model would cost $ 1,900 , similar to the current Panasonic GH5. So it is not a very low price, but I am pleased that another producer is going to enter the market for film cameras. And for now, I am looking forward to the opportunity to test the new Fuji.
