The new lens from Sony offers a wide range of focal lengths and variable light characteristic of putty. It is designed for mirrorless cameras with APS-C matrixes and Sony E. mount.
The new lens has been marked with the SEL18135 symbol. The focal range for the APS-C format sensor is 18-135 mm, which in the 35 mm format gives 27-202.5 mm . The lens fits popular Sony cameras with the APS-C matrix, including α6500, α6300 and α6000. The E 18-135 mm F3.5-5.6 OSS lens stands out with its outstanding sharpness of image reproduction throughout the frame, regardless of the focal length setting. This is due to its advanced, compensatory aberration design with one aspherical lens and two ED glass (with very little dispersion). Users of this lens can also take contactless photos with a pleasant looking bokeh effect, i.e. a softly blurred background. The maximum magnification is 0.29x and the minimum distance from the object photographed is 0.45 m. The built-in optical image stabilizer helps in hand-held photography. This varifocal model 18-135 mm F3,5-5.6 is also equipped with a fast, accurate and quiet AF system driven by a linear motor. It works thanks to the high speed photo modes and the impressive video functions of many Sony mirrorless cameras.
Price and availability
The SEL18135 lens will be sold in Europe from February 2018 . For now, we did not know its price, but we can count on it to be a budget model, which is missing for the Sony E. mounting system.
