We test Thule Aspect DSLR Backpack . We pack two cameras, a couple of lenses, and even a laptop. How does it work in practice?
From the photographic backpack we expect it to be spacious but also above all sturdy, because the equipment must be adequately protected. It is also nice to be nice at it, because style for many maniacs is important. An additional asset will be the various ingenious solutions that provide convenience. Does the Thule Aspect DSLR Backpack meet all these assumptions?
Quality of workmanship and packaging
We have already tested many Thule backpacks and one thing you can certainly write about – they are exceptionally high quality . The Thule Aspect DSLR Backpack backpack is the same we tested. At first glance, the nylon material from which the rucksack is made is solid and durable . The locks work smoothly and have interesting, made of elastic plastic hooks. They are light blue, so they look good. The backpack is black, but the whole is covered by a fine gray mesh that gives the material a slightly graphite color. The interior is light blue – the first time I meet such a finish in a photographic backpack. The back part of the rucksack and braces are covered with soft mesh. This makes the backpack comfortable for hours – not only because of its comfortable finish, but also because the mesh provides adequate thermoregulation, which makes Thule "breathes" – very important. In terms of capacitance the model does quite well, although the way the arrangement of the chambers can arouse surprise. Instead of one big chamber, we get two smaller ones . One placed in the top of the backpack, the other on the side. This side is a bit bigger and will fit in it a two-lens reflex camera (unless we have a mirrorless – then three medium-sized lenses will quietly come in). In addition, we will find a fastened mesh pocket to which we will add spare batteries. Upper chamber provides less space because the top of the backpack is narrowed . Here we will fit the SLR camera with one lens. There is also a pocket for the battery. We have two silage without fasteners, for example, for cleaning the die and the lens. The upper compartment closure does not have a protective sponge – it's just material. This makes if I had to leave my backpack, for example, in the luggage compartment, I would have preferred to insert the camera into the side compartment, which was properly secured on each side. The upper will provide safety while traveling on the session, but in the case of transport, especially lenses, I would have some concerns. The compartments have Velcro fasteners – so they can be removed and set at their own discretion, which is standard in photo backpacks. We can also get rid of all the compartments and thus get one big compartment, though this is obviously an awkward solution, because it's better when everything is folded instead of flying around the backpack. In addition to the two chambers for the camera we will find a large, fastened laptop pocket (will enter even a 15.6-inch computer, and space will still be on the tablet, which is prepared a separate pocket). Besides, we will find one more pocket in front of the backpack. It is not too big, but if you need to pack a charger, some filters or even a candy bar.
How does the backpack work in everyday use? Quick reply: Very good. Mostly thanks to ingenious solutions that are not lacking here. But I will start from what I did not like. It is not very convenient that we get to one side of the chamber from side to side and from top to side. This causes us to change the position of the backpack if we need to pull one item from the side chamber and the other from the top. However, you get used to it.The backpack is great on the back , it fits well into our body and it is very comfortable to wear. The braces have an interesting solution – we can adjust the height of the fasteners on the belly accordingly, so people with bigger belly will easily get it. In addition, we have a lap belt that provides adequate stability, so that the rucksack fits well even if it is firmly filled. It was a great idea to put mesh pockets on the hip belt. We will put in lenses even cover – everyone knows that during the session they may get lost because there is no place to put them. Of course, the belt can also be unfastened, because it is attached to velcro. There is also a necessary hook for a tripod or monopod. The advantage is that it acts on the latch, so we quickly pull out a tripod and we put it back. On the same side as the tripod handle is an outer pocket. Many photographers use it to hold the mineral water needed during the session. For Thule backpack the problem is that if we put a bottle of water, it would be hard to keep the monopod and vice versa . The creation of the side chamber resulted in the monopod handle and the outer pocket, unfortunately, on the same side, and that unfortunately limited the use of the pocket.
Summary and evaluation
Thule Aspect DSLR Backpack costs almost 700 gold , so the expectations for this backpack can be considerable. And most of the expectations, at least mine, this model meets. The backpack is very comfortable and spacious . In addition to the chests for photo equipment, it also has a laptop pocket, which for many will be very useful. For all this quality of work does not raise the slightest objection. Let's also add that the backpack is nicely presented, and the manufacturer has used many interesting solutions, which greatly enhance the convenience of use. There are several items that irritate me, such as the outer pocket and the tripod holder on the same side, but these are minor drawbacks that are almost completely overshadowed by the benefits of the backpack. This is a really good photo pack that will last for years. [review_rating]
