Later this week we start testing the EOS 7D Mark II, Canon's new baby based on the APS-C sensor. In the meantime, we have for you some example photos, taken during a match between Legia Cracovia, as well as a collection of first impressions related to the SLR.
Many thanks to Canon Poland for the invitation to the conference, and the ability to shoot in the match.
Five years had to wait users Canon EOS 7D as his successor. When he finally appeared, the consumer landscape has changed considerably – after gaining market bodies significantly smaller overall dimensions, offering similar capabilities in a more stylish, modest package. But are you sure bezlusterkowce be able to replace ergonomics, speed and versatility APS-C DSLRs? Canon proves that not everyone will succeed. It is enough to look at the two image processors, ensuring not only high speed of service, but also save photos. We can also find shooting mode, providing shooting at 10 frames / sec. (In both JPEG and RAW + JPEG), solid buffer and minimal shutter lag, equal to approx. 0.55 milliseconds. Do not forget that we get here an optical viewfinder, which continues to be the most useful solutions if we want primarily on speed.
SLR is still SLR – and thus, it is more convenient
In situations where speed counts mainly, SLR usually win with bezlusterkowcem. The latter is a great alternative when the most important criterion is a certain anonymity afforded by smaller bodies. At these events, they are sporting events, it is no pinch – we can come up with a gun, if in this way we get the right results. I mean, just – compact camera with interchangeable lenses still have a problem with the physical maintenance of the heavier, telescopic lenses, while our 7D Mark II fared even with glasses class 400 mm f / 2.8. Reinforced bayonet allow comfortable shooting without worrying about the possibility of damage to the attachment.
Autofocus works phenomenally
introduced the Canon 7D Mark II autofocusu new module, which – at first glance – not terribly different from those systems that meet the more advanced business proposals. And rightly so, because it is actually a complex sensor. The user receives 65 points cross (versus 41 for the 1DX and 61 on the 5D Mark III), which are able to capture details in both the horizontal orientation and vertical. The difference is substantial, because I turned the camera to portrait position will not be reduced autofocusu performance; it will work exactly as you work. But 7D Mark II photographers to the sports offers more than the average SLR. First of all, it is a specialized mode menu is in these types of activities – and therefore the functions that we know of more advanced models of the Japanese. As you can see above, we can optimize the settings for running sports, tennis, cycling, football, ice skating. In any case, it will be possible to determine the sensitivity with which the object is tracked, its acceleration or self-change points of focus target. We may also use the AF micro-adjustment to confidently use the nowopodpiętego lens. Moreover, there is an important change here ergonomic – the lever by which we change the field sharpening. Placing it under the thumb allows for quick and convenient switching between different modes AF. And one more thing – Canon set to modify the Live View mode, which allows us to better, faster autofocusu take measurements during filming or photographing detached eye from the viewfinder. Even in artificial light the stadium could say that this mechanism actually works better.

Is something missing?
Assessing hot, it is impossible not to notice the lack of 7D Mark II touch screen. Theoretically, it is irrelevant, given the totally professional use of the device, but it's hard to deny the usefulness of such a solution in numerous cases. I'm talking just about Live View mode, where a simple indication of the AF point a finger is much more effective than working with mechanical controls.
Full review coming soon
Now we are waiting for the shipment from the Polish branch of Canon – EOS 7D as soon as the Mark II will appear in the newsroom, we let you know!
